Stikkan®

How does the Stikkan® work technically?

Stikkan uses a lever mechanism where a handle presses a blade against the firewood. It is mounted vertically on the wall, providing power, precision, and safety when splitting kindling.

What height should the Stikkan® be mounted on the wall?

Stikkan® should be mounted at a height that suits the person who will use it most often. When in use, you press with your stomach and hip, so in its lowered position, the handle should be at hip or thigh height. If mounted too high or too low, it becomes harder to generate the right force in the movement. For example, if the primary user is 180 cm tall, the Stikkan® should be mounted at a maximum height of 120 cm at the top. Better slightly too low than too high.

How safe is the Stikkan® to use – is there a child safety lock?

The Stikkan is equipped with a simple but effective lock, in the form of a ring, that prevents the handle from being lowered when not in use. This reduces the risk of children or unauthorized persons using it. We still recommend mounting the Stikkan out of reach of small children and only using it under supervision.

Can the Stikkan® be used on all types of firewood?

Stikkan can be used on most types of wood. It works best with softer woods such as spruce, pine, or fresh birch, and can also split the logs. With harder wood, it produces thin kindling, which is still sufficient for fire-starting. Avoid knotty wood, as it can interfere with splitting. Read more about wood.

The recommended length for optimal splitting is between 30–40 cm.

How do I maintain Stikkan® for best durability?

Stikkan requires minimal maintenance. Wipe it off when needed and try to keep it free from dirt, resin and dust. Since it is made of electro galvanized cast iron it is resistant to rust. Avoid using it on wood that is too wet or too coarse as this will help maintain both function and finish for longer. Regularly check that the screws are properly tightened and that the mechanism operates smoothly. The blade can be sharpened if necessary for better cutting performance although sharpening tools are not sold by us.

Flamman®

What makes Flamman® better than a traditional fire tool?

The design of Flamman with an integrated blowpipe fire fork and ash rake makes it more versatile than an ordinary fire tool while the long pipe provides better safety and control.

How do I use Flamman to blow on the fire effectively?

Point Flamman at the embers and blow gently to add oxygen without spreading ash. Use short controlled breaths to get the fire going without smothering the flame.

How long is Flamman and why is the length important?

Flamman is approximately 50 cm long which allows you to keep a safe distance from the fire when blowing or stirring. The longer length reduces the risk of burns and makes it easier to reach deep into the fireplace.

Can Flamman be used in both indoor and outdoor environments?

Flamman is suitable for both indoor use, such as in open fireplaces and stoves, and outdoor use, such as at grills and garden fire pits.

Can Flamman® rust if left outdoors?

Flamman is made of stainless steel and has a heat resistant coating, but for best durability it should be stored dry and protected when not in use.

Långstikkan

What makes Långstikkan different from regular long matches?

Långstikkan contains extra ignition compound in the match head, which makes it light faster, burn stronger, and produce a steady flame even in demanding conditions.

How long does a Långstikka burn?

Each Långstikka burns for up to about 2 minutes, significantly longer than regular matches, making it easy to light a grill, stove, or fire.

Can Långstikkan be used year-round?

Yes, Långstikkan is designed for all seasons: summer barbecues, autumn outings, winter fires, and spring stoves – always reliable for lighting.

Is it safe to use despite the stronger flame?

Yes, but keep in mind that the flame is bigger and hotter than a regular match. Hold the match at a safe distance from your body and flammable materials until it has burned out.

What is the advantage of having more ignition compound?

More ignition compound provides a steadier flame, better ignition of damp materials, and reduces the risk of the flame going out prematurely.
