Cast Iron

Stikkan is made of solid cast iron, specifically ductile iron, which is structurally stronger than other types of cast iron. Stikkan is then electroplated to resist corrosion (rust). The final result is a sturdy product capable of hard work, withstanding both the test of time and the forces of nature.

Casting

Mining and casting are ancient Swedish traditions. Many important innovations in steel - such as the adjustable wrench and ball bearing - were made in Sweden. To this day, we extract our own iron ore, and our metal industry remains present in our society. Stikkan and Flamman are part of this tradition and a result of ongoing innovation.

Steel

Flamman consists of several precision-engineered steel components. The steel construction is then coated with a fireproof and temperature-resistant paint. The result is a precision instrument that can withstand the fire.

Blacksmithing

Blacksmithing was initially a completely manual process that required great strength and precision. Modern forging is usually a mechanical and automated process on a large scale. Stikkan and Flamman, though, are still assembled by hand, and each product is inspected by us before it is packaged.

Fire

Fire has a central place in human history, and many believe that the ability to make fire enabled humanity’s continued development to where we are today. Even now, we gather around the fire to socialize.

Walpurgis Bonfire

In Sweden, we light a bonfire on Walpurgis Night to celebrate the arrival of the warmer seasons - and to ward off evil spirits from the fields so we dare to release the livestock ;-)

Cast Iron Stove

During the cold seasons, fire-making is a natural and essential part of daily life for cooking, heating, and water supply. Therefore, it’s no wonder that we highly value our fire tools in these latitudes.

Sauna Stove

A Nordic home can have many different fireplaces: a wood stove in the kitchen, an open fireplace in the living room, a cast iron stove in the home office, a sauna stove in the sauna, and a wood-fired oven at the outdoor grill area.
